Qubad İbadoğlu was born on September 12, 1971, in Aşağı Güzlak, Füzuli district.
He completed his secondary education at a physics and mathematics specialized boarding school in Baku.
In 1987, he became the winner of the Republic Olympiad in physics.
In 1987, he was admitted to the Azerbaijan State Agricultural Institute.
In 1992, he graduated from the Azerbaijan State Economic University with a distinction diploma.
In 1996, he completed his postgraduate studies at the same university.
He was a member of the Musavat Party from 1996 to 2015.
From 1996 to 2003, he served as the head of the Economic Policy Commission of the Musavat Party, and from 1997 to 2014, he was a member of the Musavat Party Council.
In 2014, he became a candidate for the presidency of the Musavat Party.
In 1999-2000, he successfully completed a doctoral program at the Warsaw School of Economics in Poland.
From 1995 to 1999, he served as the chief editor of the "Economics" Economic Journal.
From 2000 to 2009, he was the chief editor of the "Expert" Economic Journal.
From 2002 to 2012, he served as the head of the Board of the Center for Economic Research.
From 2013 to 2015, he served as the head of the Azerbaijan Brain Centers Association.
Since 2012, he has been the head of the Center for Public Initiatives and a senior researcher at the Center for Economic Research.
He was a member of the Strategic Advisory Group of the "Publish What You Pay" International Coalition, based in London in 2008.
In 2009, he was a member of the Board of the Black Sea Economic Forum, based in Bucharest.
In 2011-2012, he was a member of the Leadership Committee of the Citizen Society Forum of the European Union's Eastern Partnership Program, based in Brussels.
From 2013 to 2019, he was a member of the International Board of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), based in Oslo.
Since 2020, he has been a member of the Strategic Advisory Group of the CAREC Brain Centers Network, based in Beijing.
In 2014-15, he worked as an international consultant with the status of a UN Development Program expert in the Kyrgyz government, leading reform programs to enhance the effectiveness of customs and budget policies.
In the academic years 2004/2005, 2008/2009, 2015/2016, 2017/2018, and 2018/2021, he conducted research and pedagogical activities at Central European University in Budapest, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University in Durham, the Qatari Research Institute in Princeton, and Rutgers University in New Brunswick, respectively.
He has undertaken business trips to around 80 countries, presenting papers at international and regional conferences, government events, academic forums, and scholarly discussions.
Currently, in the academic year 2021/2022, Qubad İbadoğlu works as a professor and chief researcher at the School of Economics and Political Science in London, Great Britain.
On February 21, 2015, he was elected as the leader of the Azerbaijan Democracy and Prosperity (ADR) Movement at the movement's founding conference.
On October 17, 2021, he was elected as the leader of the Azerbaijan Democracy and Prosperity (ADR) Party at the party's founding congress.
He continues his public and political activities as the leader of the ADR.
He is fluent in English, Russian, and Turkish.
He has three children.
